Freaks of the Beat
We are the only student group focused on breaking at the University of Pennsylvania. We believe that Hip-hop, Breaking/Bboying, and dance are something that can be shared by all. We seek to share this vision with the Penn and Philadelphia community by developing our members individual skills through training, performing or competing at on and off campus events, and by entering competitions to represent the University of Pennsylvania. You can find us in the practice rooms, dancing on the Compass, traveling to other colleges for jams, and attending workshops from local breakers. We are an no audition/open membership club, and welcome all grad/undergrad students to come practice.
Get Started
At the start of every semester, we host 1-2 intro workshops.
Each session includes one hour of teaching and open practice for the remaining time. These workshops are meant to give an introduction to newbies who are interested in getting started in breaking and meeting the crew.Intro night details will be posted on our social media, or find us at the activity fair!
Practices
We have practice 3 times a week. One of them is the weekly lesson per our FOTB curriculum meant to build up newbies from zero. The other two of those sessions are free practice. We encourage all to come practice with us. If you are interested in joining us for practice, send us a DM on our social media account or come to one of the intro nights!
Rhythmic Damage
